I didn't know that on Mac you could, click Edit then Special Characters and type stuff like this!:

  1. Cool! That last one, the one that resembles a cross with a loop on top, is an ancient egyptian symbol called an Ankh, symbolizing life. On many a papyrus, and many tomb paintings, you may see a seated character holding one on their knees, or a standing figure carrying one at their side. Often used in the Book of the Dead of Ani, this Ankh has been translated to signify life after death, but the concept of this is still quite controversial.

    I am an Egyptologist. And a know-it-all. If you have any questions about ancient Egypt, I would be happy to answer them for you.

    My expertise is mainly in the area of symbols, mythology, and religion, for that is what I find most intriguing about the mysterious way of life of ancient civilizations.
